Trio metal print by Martel Chapman. Bring your artwork to life with the stylish lines and added depth of a metal print. Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The arch is the top of his hat. The top of the lead pipe is his left eye. The hole from the missing fourth wire is his nostril. The left point of the red square is his nose. The cuts on that square are his beard. The grooves on the base of the lead pipe is the end of his tie. The figure is resting on an ivory slab.
"Trio" is probably my personal favourite so I am going to describe it more to hopefully give it a better understanding.
The idea is a construction of a monument or sculpture to honor the jazz trios of Thelonious Monk. This was created from a simple sketch, so it actually was born unintentionally; another reason why I appreciate this piece more than most.
As in its description, it is a profile bust or portrait of the pianist. What I like best about this or any visual, is what can be gained by viewing a subject in multiple ways.
